anOTHER T.SHIRT COMPETITION
OVERVIEW

anOTHER T.SHIRT COMPETITION was a New York City based competition/ exhibition/ limited-edition sale of "work of art" t-shirts submitted by graphic designers and artists and juried by a select group of professionals representing the design, fashion, and gallery world. Using a t-shirt as a medium, raw-material or jumping off point, anOTHER T.SHIRT COMPETITION showcased work that expanded the boundaries of t-shirt and graphic design.

The project started on June 21st, 2005 when New York Collective Design began accepting entries for the contest portion of this event. By the time competition closed on August 13th, 2005 we had received submissions from all across the globe from artists representing more than 15 countries including: the United States, Canada, Chile, Columbia, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Serbia, China, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. On September 13th, 2005 we threw an opening night reception at SALON where the general public was invited to come out and support the winning artists and have a sneak peak at their work. The exhibition then moved to anOTHER T.SHIRT SPACE: a temporary gallery space/store located at 269 Elizabeth Street. Open during NYC fashion week, from September 14th-September 24th, 2005, this exhibition also included the sale of winning artists' entries as limited edition multiples interpreted and produced by NYCOLLECTIVE.
